First item of business is... we are having a BABY!! Come sometime around May 21st we will have our first child and we could not be more excited!
We found out at the beginning of September after we went to the Blackfoot fair. I had my suspicions and that day I kind of felt weird and tired and then all of the sudden I was like, "Okay we have to go home I am so tired." So we went home and I fell asleep for 2 hours. That night I took a pregnancy test, and covered it with toilet paper while Cory and I waited the 3 minutes (yes he was in the bathroom with me through the whole.. process). We uncovered it and only saw one line. Disappointed, I threw it away and went on to other business. A few minutes later Cory said, "Hayley! I think you're pregnant!!" I guess he had a feeling to check one more time! He got it out of the garbage can and lo, and behold there was the faintest of pink lines! We jumped up and down with excitement and proceeded to take 2 more tests, kind of excessive I know.
The next day Cory went and got a fancy digital test just to be sure. That told me I was pregnant too! Then I went and got a blood test and my HCG levels tested positive! We waited a few days to tell our families. We didn't do anything special but we did just say it out of the blue and their faces were just priceless!
During my first trimester I did have some nausea and since I work at a dentist office I had to stick with the Zofran and it saved my life! Other than that I got the 24 hr flu and had to get an at home IV! Lame! It was over Thanksgiving. Then I caught some kind of nasty throat virus thing and couldn't speak for 3 days. So I have gotten sick, but I have had it pretty good.
Getting my IV!
The nice nurse absolutely obliterated my vein
Once my second trimester hit I had more energy for about a week and then that is when I got sick with the flu and the other virus. So I haven't had too much extra energy, but my nausea is completely gone and I have started gaining weight so that is good.
13 weeks- not really showing but I want to see the progression..
Nasty picture- 16 weeks
So now I am almost 19 weeks, just like that! We went in yesterday to find out the gender and........
THEY COULDN'T TELL!! Our lovely baby was clear down in my uterus and facing the wrong way with it's legs together. The WORST possible position to be able to tell. And my poor doctor tried so hard to get the baby to move! I tried what I could but it would just wiggle and stay in the same position. So we were really bummed out and it actually made me really grouchy for the rest of the day. Especially because no one believed me when I told them we didn't find out. They thought I was joking! Haha, I guess it would be a good joke. So we go back at the beginning of January to find out the gender. Good news though, everything with the baby is healthy and right now the baby is even a little bit big for my approximate due date.
I have felt the baby move quite a few times this past week! Last night, after the Doctor's appointment, it was going crazy! I was just thinking, "really baby?! Now you move?!" We strongly considered driving to Provo and paying $40 for a gender check at the clinic there. But, there is no time! Christmas is coming!! So we will wait to find out. It is funny because when Cory and I told our siblings, his said, "Oh the baby is stubborn just like you!" and my sister said, "The baby is already stubborn like you Hayley!!" So I guess we are in trouble.
One funny thing is, is we decided to start trying to get pregnant I think everyone else and their dog did too. I seriously feel like I am following a trend! I swear half of my high school got pregnant at the same time! Before we put it out there on social media, all these other girls did! It is so crazy. It really is such a sacred decision between you, your husband, and the Lord, but I guess it was on all of our minds at the same time! It really is funny and I am so happy for all my friends that are having babies too.
In other news, Cory just finished another semester of school and I am so proud of him for the long hours he puts in practicing the Organ and for how well he does in school. He was just selected to receive a prestigious scholarship for full tuition for 2 semesters! That is such a blessing for us. He is also really excited about the baby and I know he will be such a great daddy.
We also got a dog. Her name is Tutu, she is a Shih-Tzu and she has one eye! She is very very sweet and we are so excited to have her! My sister works at an Animal hospital in Salt Lake and she was "fostering" this dog for a few days and I just fell in love with her and convinced Cory we should take her!! We can have a dog now because we are moving out of our current apartment and into the home of a couple that are currently serving a mission! We also have to take care of their dog, which is an 18 year old poodle named Poppy! We are really excited for this new phase of life and I am so excited to have some creatures to take care of.
Anyway there is the update. I want to start doing weekly updates like my SIL Megan did with her pregnancy, they are so fun to look back on. I hope everything is doing well and I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!!
