I heard this poem once last summer when I was a counselor at Be The Best You camp, and I loved it. I was so sad that I wasn't paying attention and missed who the author was! I remembered some of the poem, but not enough to google search or anything.
So tonight as I was looking through some of our books for ideas for FHE, I FOUND IT!! I was so excited that tears came to my eyes. I just have to share it. This is a poem I want to memorize and engrave it into my children's brains!!
Isn't it strange, that princes and kings,
and clowns that caper in sawdust rings,
and common-folk like you and me,
are builders for eternity?
and clowns that caper in sawdust rings,
and common-folk like you and me,
are builders for eternity?
To each is given a bag of tools,
a shapeless mass and a Book of Rules;
and each must make 'ere time has flown,
a stumbling block or a stepping stone
a shapeless mass and a Book of Rules;
and each must make 'ere time has flown,
a stumbling block or a stepping stone
R.L. Sharpe
I love the message in this poem!!
